  5. Growth company. In order to achieve the highest impact, we give our employees space for freedom and creativity, as well as ownership and responsibility, a key component in taking your skills to the next level.
  6. Small everyday things that make the difference. We offer modern working tools, a budget for home office equipment, phone bill and internet compensation, an extra holiday for your birthday, and other perks to make your everyday life a little better.

As a National Sales Director you are responsible for cultivating, farming and selling employer opportunities through two different sales channels. This includes reaching out to Plan Sponsors (Employer Groups) within the assigned health plan contracts that Meru Health has established, to introduce Meru Health’s innovative care approach. To accomplish this, you will build and strengthen relationships with the Health Plan’s AE/Sales teams across the US and work with those teams to get in front of their employer groups and sell Meru Health’s mental health solutions. In addition to the Plan Sponsors, this role also includes selling direct to employers by driving the sales lifecycle from lead generation to closing the deal.

As a culture add, you approach personal and professional relationships from a place of care, curiosity, and open-mindedness. You genuinely care about the well-being of others and are actively keeping inclusion & diversity top of mind.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drive Sales and Revenue through health plan AE/Sales teams and Direct to Employer Opportunities:

  1. Identify, develop and strengthen relationships with Plan Sponsors and health plan AE/Sales teams within assigned health plan contracts.
  2. Develop Meru Health sales opportunities through building and strengthening relationships with health plan AE/Sales teams and gaining access to their Plan Sponsor block of business.
  3. Develop strategic plans with the health plan AE/Sales team regarding their block of business, the mental health strategies of these employers, and how Meru Health can support their efforts.
  4. Deliver presentations to Plan Sponsors educating them on Meru Health’s innovative approach, the impact we can have on their population’s mental health, and how we partner on communication strategies to promote the benefit to their employees.
  5. Lead the sales cycle from lead generation through closing the deal by building direct to employer targeted lists, cold outreach, delivering presentations for introductory through finalist meetings.
  6. Disciplined approach to managing CRM.
  7. Work closely with Client Success to ensure successful handoff of clients.
  8. Provide market feedback about product enhancements, market needs, pricing, etc.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

Work experience needed:

  • 5+ years healthcare sales experience at a health plan and/or selling to health plans and employer groups. Contacts, and a strong network in this space are a plus.

  • Deep understanding of the complexities of the benefits/health insurance space and experience navigating through these challenges.

  • Successful track record in healthcare sales.
  • Experience working in digital health (preferably mental health related) startups or growth companies that have been selling to payers and employers.

Skills needed:

  • Alignment with our values and passion for our mission.
  • Strong sales skills and commercial acumen.
  • Strong skills in management & driving the sales process.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Analytical skills - make decisions based on data.
  • Ability to adapt
  • Strong networking and negotiating skills.
  • Storing closing skills.

Knowledge, education, and/or training needed:

  • BA or advanced degree preferred.
  • MUST have strong sales experience in healthcare benefits, channels, targeted segments, etc.
  • Strong technical knowledge of CRM / HubSpot and other commercial tools

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

  • Drive net new employer group sales through Plan Sponsor and Direct to Employer opportunities.
  • Achieving Sales/Revenue targets
  • Continued traction with expansion across health plan AE/Sales team geographies.

At Meru Health, we don’t just accept differences — we celebrate, support, and thrive on them as a source of human creativity and richness of life, for the benefit of our employees, our customers, and our community. Meru Health is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.

THIS IS WHY WE’RE HERE:

We founded Meru Health in 2016 after having lost family members to mental health struggles and having seen so many others struggle with their own mental health care. We learned that access to mental health care was severely lacking—and that the care that was available was often not sufficient.

Mental health isn’t just mental. The science on how food, sleep, and even breathing can affect mood—and how mood can affect physical wellbeing—is well established. Yet so much of the mental health care landscape was ignoring this. Traditional talk therapy and psychiatric medicines aren’t enough or—in so many cases—even necessary. We felt that a more holistic approach could deliver better and faster results—and for far more people. That’s why we're building the new standard of mental health care.

TOTAL REWARDS PACKAGE:

  • Base: Salary Range: $150k -$170K Variable Compensation: On Target Earnings: $250k -$270k (uncapped) + stock options
  • Meru Health pays 100% of Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance premiums for full-time employees & 50% for dependents
