Airtable is the no-code app platform that empowers people closest to the work to accelerate their most critical business processes. More than 500,000 organizations, including 80% of the Fortune 100, rely on Airtable to transform how work gets done. We’re investing deeply in AI to make app building faster, smarter, and more accessible—so anyone can go from an idea to a working Airtable app in minutes.
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead Airtable's AI Product engineering team, which builds the user-facing AI experiences that make Airtable magical. You'll own the AI experiences that put powerful agents directly in users' hands—enabling them to automate workflows, surface insights, and accomplish in minutes what used to take hours—and drive the roadmap for how AI transforms what's possible in Airtable. Your team will leverage our AI Platform foundation to rapidly ship experiences that delight users and drive business impact, staying at the frontier of what's possible with the latest models, agent frameworks, and AI tooling.
Please note: while we employ a hybrid working model at Airtable (flexible in working from the office or elsewhere), we are looking to hire candidates at this level that are based in San Francisco or New York City who are open to coming into the office at least ~2-3 times/week for team collaboration.
What you’ll do
- Own user-facing AI experiences: Lead an AI product engineering team responsible for shipping high quality AI features (e.g. Field Agents, AI-powered automations), and intelligent features that transform how hundreds of thousands of organizations work—shipping capabilities that users immediately see and love
- Drive rapid iteration on AI features: Establish a culture of experimentation and velocity, leveraging the latest models, agent libraries, and AI tooling to continuously advance what's possible for Airtable users
- Partner deeply with Product and Design: Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to define the roadmap, translate user insights into technical direction, and ensure every AI feature delivers intuitive, delightful experiences
- Leverage platform to accelerate delivery: Build on Airtable's AI Platform foundation—agent runtime, semantic search, evaluation systems—to ship features quickly and safely while maintaining quality at enterprise scale
- Grow a high-performing team: Recruit, coach, and develop engineers who combine strong product instincts with technical excellence, creating an environment where people do the best work of their careers
Who you are
- Product-minded engineering leader: You obsess over user experience and business impact, not just technical elegance. You've shipped AI features that customers love and can articulate why they succeeded
- AI-native builder: You understand the landscape of LLMs, agent frameworks, RAG architectures, and emerging AI tooling. You have intuition for what's possible and practical with current models
- Velocity-oriented: You know how to move fast without breaking things. You've built teams that ship iteratively, learn from users quickly, and continuously improve AI experiences based on feedback
- Collaborative partner: You thrive working with Product and Design as true partners. You bring technical perspective to product strategy while respecting craft across disciplines
- Comfortable with ambiguity: The AI landscape changes rapidly, and you're energized rather than paralyzed by uncertainty. You make good decisions with incomplete information and adapt as you learn
- Proven technical and leadership foundation: 5+ years experience as an engineer (previously in a staff or tech lead IC position) and 1+ years as a manager, with experience shipping AI-powered products
