Let’s face it, a company whose mission is human transformation better have some fresh thinking about the employer/employee relationship.

We do. We can’t cram it all in here, but you’ll start noticing it from the first interview.

Even our candidate experience is different. And when you get an offer from us (and accept it), you get way more than a paycheck. You get a personal BetterUp Coach, a development plan, a trained and coached manager, the most amazing team you’ve ever met (yes, each with their own personal BetterUp Coach), and most importantly, work that matters. This makes for a remarkably focused and fulfilling work experience. Frankly, it’s not for everyone. But for people with fire in their belly, it’s a game-changing, career-defining, soul-lifting move.

Join us and we promise you the most intense and fulfilling years of your career, doing life-changing work in a fun, inventive, soulful culture.

If that sounds exciting—and the job description below feels like a fit—we really should start talking.

As Director, Content Strategy and Thought Leadership, you will lead BetterUp’s content marketing strategy across demand generation, thought leadership, and brand awareness. You’ll be responsible for building and executing a cohesive content strategy that fuels demand, deepens engagement with our ICP (VP+ executives at enterprise and strategic global accounts), and reinforces our credibility as the leader in human transformation. This role is key to defining how we tell our story and position BetterUp in the marketplace. You’ll drive impactful content creation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop narratives that inspire, educate, and engage, from executive thought leadership to social media storytelling.

As a strategic leader, you’ll manage a growing content team, ensuring that all content—whether it’s website copy, social media posts, long-form thought leadership pieces, or email campaigns—aligns with our overarching brand narrative, thought leadership position, and business goals. Reporting to the VP Brand, you’ll work closely with Product, BetterUp Labs, and Marketing to define the future of BetterUp’s content strategy, with a special focus on executive visibility and market leadership. This is a highly impactful role that combines strategy with hands-on execution and will have a direct influence on our business outcomes.

What you’ll do:

  • Content Strategy and Leadership

    • Lead the development and execution of BetterUp’s content strategy, driving brand awareness, demand generation, and thought leadership balancing the quality and accuracy of our research while capturing the right tone and voice.

    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Brand, Product Marketing, and Revenue Marketing to craft and deliver high-impact content across multiple channels. You will work with BetterUp Labs (research team) to build storylines, sharpen messages, and turn quantitative analysis into crisp, digestible writing.

    • Develop content strategy tailored to executive decision-makers, including CEOs, to solidify BetterUp’s position as a category leader.

    • Own the content narrative, ensuring alignment with our business objectives and market positioning while remaining flexible to market demands.

  • Brand Voice, Content Creation, & Thought Leadership

    • Conceptualize, develop, and manage key content initiatives and integrated campaigns that align with our core brand narrative.

    • Oversee content production, ensuring it delivers clear, compelling messaging and resonates with our ICP, from website copy to thought leadership articles and social media posts.

    • Partner closely with the VP of Brand and the VP of Creative to ensure all content consistently reflects BetterUp’s brand voice, tone, and messaging guidelines. Act as a key player in continuously evolving and refining these guidelines to stay aligned with brand evolution and market needs.

    • Collaborate with the VP of Brand and Brand Creative teams to define, develop, and maintain BetterUp’s brand tone of voice, ensuring it resonates across all content and marketing channels.

    • Serve as the lead editor for all marketing content to ensure we uphold our brand standards for quality, clarity, tone, style and accuracy.

    • Manage content distribution across owned channels—website, email, social media, and events—ensuring consistency and maximum impact.

    • Balance a robust and fast-paced content pipeline, effectively prioritizing high-impact initiatives while setting clear expectations with stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution at the highest level.

    • Develop and manage the editorial calendar, aligning content initiatives and campaigns with BetterUp’s core brand narrative. Ensure cross-team alignment and timely execution, while staying agile to capitalize on real-time trends and audience conversations.

    • Surface real-time content opportunities based on trends and conversations online and work with our content, PR, demand, and creative teams to engage in these moments.

  • AI Innovation & Content Execution

    • Embrace AI tools and technologies to optimize content creation, improve efficiency, and enhance personalization across all channels.

    • Innovate and experiment with AI-driven content strategies to continuously push the boundaries of creative and strategic execution. Collaborate with the content team to integrate AI into content workflows for smarter, more impactful content.

    • Foster a culture of innovation, ensuring the team is continually exploring new AI tools, techniques, and trends to stay at the forefront of content marketing.

  • Executive Thought Leadership

    • In partnership with BetterUp Labs and Product Marketing, develop the narratives and scripts for the CEO’s thought-leadership keynotes at Uplift and mainstage speaking engagements with a unique focus on our brand and CEO’s tone and voice.

    • Support the creation of session design (format, title, abstract, scripts and presentation) for BetterUp executives for Tier 1 events (Uplift, Offline and Davos) through providing reviews of team work to ensure core messaging pull through, direction as needed, and occasionally stepping in to help build out session design when needed.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution

    • Partner with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, to elevate BetterUp’s thought leadership and strengthen our market positioning through strategic content initiatives.

    • Support the development of executive communications, including bylines, speaking engagements, and interviews, ensuring alignment with BetterUp’s brand narrative.

    • Integrate insights from customer feedback, industry trends, and data into content strategies to continuously evolve and improve the approach.

  • Team Development & Culture

    • Lead and inspire a team of content creators, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development to foster a high-performing, innovative, and collaborative culture.

    • Build and scale an in-house content team while ensuring strong collaboration with external partners.

    • Establish and optimize workflows and processes to ensure high-quality, on-time content delivery aligned with broader marketing goals.

    • Champion continuous improvement through data-driven insights, performance feedback, and industry trends to elevate content strategy.

    • Foster an inclusive and dynamic environment where creativity thrives, empowering the team to push boundaries and drive innovative solutions. Provide clear direction, constructive feedback, and support to ensure the team produces best-in-class work that drives business impact.
