As the Governance, Risk, and Compliance Sr Manager at BetterUp, you will leverage your extensive experience in third-party risk management to develop and lead the company's comprehensive GRC strategy. You will be responsible for ensuring that BetterUp maintains a strong compliance posture, effectively manages risks, and adheres to industry standards and regulations. Your leadership will be key in fostering a culture of compliance and risk awareness across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of GRC professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Lead enterprise-wide risk management initiatives, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks.
- Utilize your third-party risk management expertise to enhance BetterUp’s third party risk management program.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including ISO 27001, SOC 2, SOX, and others.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GRC processes into business operations.
- Communicate effectively with external and internal stakeholders, providing clear and actionable insights on GRC matters.
- Collaborate with sales and customer success teams to address security questions and concerns during pre-sales conversations and ongoing customer interactions.
- Develop and deliver training and resources to sales teams, enabling them to effectively communicate BetterUp’s security posture to prospective clients.
- Promote a culture of compliance and risk awareness across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in GRC, with a strong focus on third-party risk management.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or PCI ISA.
- Proven track record in implementing GRC tools.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to building customer trust and managing risk.
- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards.

At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.
The base salary range for this role is $169,000 – $242,000.
If you live in New York, the base salary range for this role is:
$194,000 – $242,000: New York City
$169,000 – $253,000: Albany, Buffalo, Nassau, Newburgh, Rochester, Syracuse
